What We Do

Signal 8 Security was established in 1992 to provide Specialised Security, Risk Mitigation and Close Protection services throughout Asia. We are a global company headquartered in Hong Kong with over 20 years experience. Our CP unit comprises of professionally trained certified specialists. With many years of experience in this area, Signal 8 Security is able to provide experienced operatives worldwide. Our specialists speak many languages and understand the diverse cultures, etiquettes and situations that may arise when working globally. We assemble our teams to meet our clients’ needs whether in the residence, at functions, events, on tours, business trips or vacations.

Event Security

Signal 8 Security has been trusted to secure and manage an array of events – from business meetings to concerts to jewellery exhibitions, shop openings and sporting events. All security details are tailored and client specific. Our event managers are highly experienced with the main objective of ensuring a safe, secure and enjoyable environment.

Our security solutions include meeting with clients on a wide range of organisational issues including assisting in choosing an event venue, staffing levels, safety procedures, legal liabilities, media management, contingency plans and logistics. We have secured events that range from low to high profile, with and without media attention. We also provide close protection teams to facilitate the special needs of VIPs, speakers and celebrity guests, including the co-ordination of arrivals and departures and access control. Investigations

The duties of Signal 8 Security’s investigators depend on the needs of each client. Each case calls for a varied investigative plan. Our staff conduct internal and external investigations for a variety of clients from corporations to individuals and are highly trained to verify facts via research, surveillance and interviews.

Some of the investigations performed by Signal 8 Security include confirming whether drugs are being used in the workplace, abuse of expense accounts, employee theft of merchandise and/or information. Signal 8 Security has investigated criminal schemes outside the corporation, such as fraudulent billing by a supplier and relationship infidelities. In addition, we offer background checks for corporations hiring staff in order to minimise the risk to future business.

Crisis Management

It involves dealing with all aspects of threat, interruption and recovery within both business and private environments. This is done using a combination of skills and techniques required to identify, assess, understand, and cope with any given situation, from rapidly responding from the moment a situation first occurs to the point that recovery procedures commence.

With this in mind, Signal 8 Security has extensive experience in effectively planning and preparing for emergencies and crises. Training

Signal 8 Security understands the importance of training and ensures that all staff have the most comprehensive and up-to-date information available. Our trainers have extensive knowledge and experience within the private sector and high-risk military operations. They offer comprehensive field experience, which has been gained and used in operational environments globally and then passed onto the students.

Personnel attending our Close Protection training courses include private individuals entering the profession, established teams wishing to refresh and develop their skills, as well as operatives and high ranking officers from police, military and government units.

We offer many different modules for individuals interested in a career in security, from client security staff in need of increased skills and proficiency levels to military and law enforcement personnel interested in the close protection services. Our Founders

Ms. Kim-Maree Penn

CEO

Kim-Maree has many years of extensive experience in the security industry and has provided protection services on low to high risk security details for clients ranging from fortune 100s to high profile celebrities. Kim-Maree is an ex Australian karate champion and retired as the undefeated world champion in Japan. She is trained in various martial arts and close protection procedures and is an instructor for Defence and Restraint Tactics (D.A.R.T.).

Mr. Bruce McLaren

COO

Bruce McLaren was born in Scotland where he worked as a marine engineer and then a firefighter for 5 years becoming a Graduate of the Institute of Fire Engineers. Bruce has successfully completed many specialist cources worldwide including protective driving, tactical firearms, counter surveillance and counter-sniper. Bruce is a qualified instructor in close protection and Defense and Restraint Tactics (D.A.R.T.). Bruce provides in depth training and consultancy for corporations and individuals on security solutions globally.
